Rental Information

This is truly the no hassles way of going about renting gear.
Here are some commonly asked rental information questions regarding renting gear from Whitestone Getaway. If you have any additional questions, feel free to contact us and we would be honored to serve you!
Rental Reservations
If you need to rent camping equipment for a future date up to one year ahead of time, just go ahead and rent through our shopping cart. Or just email us at support@whitestone.com with questions. If you rent online, your credit card will be charged immediately and you will receive an email order.
Finally, before we actually ship your gear, you will receive a tracking information email directly from UPS. Your only job is to have fun and send things back to us when you get back (or drop them off at our pickup locations in Vienna, VA or Royersford, PA). Please remember to reserve as far in advance as practical. Once your reservation is set, your gear is guaranteed to be available for you.
If you provide any UPS location address for pick up, UPS might charge you $10 at the time of pickup.
Transit Time
You do not pay for any of the transit time when you rent from Whitestone Getaway. If you need a package for a three day trip, below is an example of a 3 day trip from Friday-Sunday.
- Whitestone Getaway will ship your gear to arrive on Thursday (provided no shipping delays from UPS)
- We will include a pre-paid shipping tag for return shipping as well.
- We can ship your gear anywhere you want it shipped in the US. Like your destination if you are flying in. We often ship to a UPS Store or first night hotel. Whatever works for you. It’s a good idea to call your hotel or UPS Store to make sure they will accept your gear.
- On Monday, after you have finished your trip, clean and pop your gear back into UPS using the shipping tag and box we provided for you.
What gear does Whitestone Getaway carry?
First, we carry top quality gear across the board. Others may claim to, but we actually do it. Our rental items include tents, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, hiking poles, chairs, grills, cooking utensils, accessories, and more. You actually get to pick the packages and additional items you need depending on the type of trip you are taking. Damage policy + Returning Gear Clean and Dry
At Whitestone Getaway our motto includes the commitment of “Clean Equipment”….but we don’t expect that from you. We do expect gear to be returned clean and dry. Dry is the number one thing. Wet gear means mildew and mildew means hours for Whitestone Getaway to get things ready for the next trip. Clean for you means shake the dirt out of the inside of the tent and other gear. It’s important to know that we reserve the right to charge a cleaning fee if your gear comes back wet. How often do we do that? Not often.
With that said, we understand normal wear and tear on rental items. If items are damaged, lets say you put your tent or sleeping bag too close to the fire and holes were burned in it, there is a fee for fixing or replacing. Just treat the gear like you own it and there shouldn’t be any problem.
We will hold a $200 charge as a Security deposit during your order placement. In an unfortunate event if any equipment is found damaged during the return inspection, we will need to recover the damage cost from the paid security deposit. If the repair cost is more than $200, we will need to charge you.
If you treat all equipment with care and return them without any damages, the $200 security deposit would be fully refunded.
